Healthcare: Buckle Your Seatbelts

We are about to see Healthcare Reform unfold. I’m sensing the curtain is beginning to close. Tomorrow is the vote: December 24th. What will happen? I feel a sinking sensation that it will pass. This isn’t, necessarily, the final act . . . but it’s close. When it passes, the two bills (the Senate’s and the House’s) will be joined together and combined. That is, if the House votes down the Senate’s bill, which is the most likely outcome. But either way, it is of little consequence because the next step is for the final product, Healthcare Reform 1.0, or “Government now controls your health”, to go before the President to be signed. What are the odds that his pen will run out of ink and he’ll take it as a sign to “stop the nonsense?” {rhetorical “zilch” looming in the air}
Yeah, I know. Too bad, though. One problem, that I see, is that for those states who received special “deals”, don’t lose sight of the fact that if a bribe . . . oops, I mean an “incentive” is required to get something passed, the merits of that legislation are being severely called into question. So, you may get a kickback or an “incentive; all you’re asked to give in return is your soul—or just something of similar or equal value. But I think that the people of these particular states know this. I know that there is, at least in the state of Nebraska, a substantial blowback: they are not happy.

At this point, the only advice that I can give is: America! Don’t forget. Don’t fall pray to short-term memories. Accountability is crucial in matters of government. When elections come, sound your voice. Make your vote count.

The following is a video of my senator, Senator Crapo, going to bat for the people of Idaho. In addition, he has spearheaded a petition against the passing of this Healthcare Reform, as he mentions in the video:
